A Quick Trip to Honeymoon Cove

Monday morning (7/19) we left Puerto Escondido and motored 4 miles to Honeymoon Cove on Isla Danzante. The cove is pretty and has several lobes.

Calista in Honeymoon Cove

We went snorkeling several times. Because we love snorkeling. And because it was really hot. And to avoid the bees.

A small Damselfish
Balloonfish – a type of puffer fish
Skeleton of a Balloonfish – don’t step on this with bare feet!
A toxic Flower Urchin
They like to cover themselves with stones and shells
Some Spottail Grunts
What lives here?

The hole above was about 3/4 inch in diameter. Once I did see something poke out. I think it had several fan-like structures. Anyone know what this might be?

I really like the Chocolate Chip Seastars
A Yellow Spotted Seastar and a Blue Seastar
King Angelfish and a Sargent Major (bottom)

We also went for a hike early the second morning, before it got too hot.

On July 21st we returned to Puerto Escondido where we enjoyed ‘zoom attending’ the PhD thesis defense public lecture by my daughter-in-law, Chelsea. She did great and is now ‘Dr Chelsea’!

On July 23 we will leave Puerto Escondido and head north, hitting various bays, coves and islands on the way up to Bahia Los Angeles (thats in Baja, not the US).
