We left the El Cid marina about 7am Sunday and headed west, across the Sea of Cortez. We motored with little wind until mid day when we had enough to put up the jib but still needed the motor. By mid afternoon we put up the main and there was enough wind that we put in one reef and killed the engine. Much nicer! 🙂
All the weather models said the wind would die between 10pm and midnight but it held steady all night. We probably should have even put in a second reef when the wind got into the low 20 knot range from 2am to 5am. It did finally die around 11am so we motored the last couple hours into Los Muertos.
