Tenacatita, a day at the town and resort

In the morning we took a dinghy ride through a mangrove swamp. The ride was a couple miles long and at times was so narrow that we were grabbing branches on both sides to make sure they did not puncture the inflated pontoons on the sides of our dinghy. We saw a couple very small (18 inch) crocs but were told that there were a couple really big ones in the area. Its a bit stressful to be in croc country in an inflatable boat!

Peggy on ‘croc watch’ 😉 in one of the wider areas in the mangroves.

The ride ended behind the town. There were a few beach restaurants with lots of umbrellas and tables on the sand, where local tour busses drop off tourists but not much else.

Lots of umbrellas and tables along the water.

In the afternoon we went to ‘Hotel Los Angeles Locos’ (The Crazy Angels Hotel) where we ate at the big buffet lunch and hung out by the pool for a bit. They cater to Mexicans from the surrounding area – we were the only gringos around. The place was a bit dated, but still very nice.

A birthday boy is about to be thrown off the bridge into the pool!
Plenty of space to relax, watch the water, or read a book.

Back on Calista, we watched the sunset and prepared to move on the next day.
