Mid-day April 7 we pulled anchor from Punta Perula and headed for Paraiso, a short 8 miles south. The winds were perfect and we sailed the whole way, doing about 8 knots average. A short but great sail. We dropped anchor around 3pm in an idilic cove with clear blue / green water and a really pretty beach with a few high-end homes.
The water was 80 degrees so we put on our snorkel gear and hit the water! We saw many colorful fish and lots of healthy coral. A great way to spend an afternoon.
In the morning we kayaked out to some near islands and saw many crabs, lots of fish and quite a few sea caves. One island had an arch / tunnel that we kayaked through.
The seas look flat in the pic, but it was kinda rough in there, a challenge to not get pushed into the sharp rocky edges (which you want to avoid with an inflatable kayak). I was not sure about doing it, but after Peggy charged through, I had to do it!
In the afternoon we came back for a long snorkel and saw some of the healthiest coral we have seen anywhere in Mexico. Back on the boat, we enjoyed watching a pod of 5 dolphins playing all afternoon. Four adults and a baby, often less than 40 ft from the boat. Really fun to watch!
