Botanical Gardens

On March 12 we went to the Botanical Gardens, southwest of Puerto Vallarta. A $25 Uber to get there, but worth it!
Their mission: “To create Mexico´s foremost botanical garden for the propagation, study, discovery, conservation, and display of Mexican native plants for the enjoyment of Puerto Vallarta´s residents and our visitors.”

The path leading into the gardens, past the Rhododendron House.

They pack a LOT into a place that is very walkable in a day, although some of the longer hikes are quite steep. There is even a ‘swimming hole’ down at the river. The park is maintained largely by donations and volunteers.

The walk-ways are very well maintained. You get the impression of a beautiful jungle, although much thought and care went into what is planted in each area and how it is laid out.

The orchid house has a huge number of local and exotic orchids.

Exotic yes, but I’m not sure I’d call these ‘beatuiful’.

The garden is starting a ‘mini vanilla plantation’, hoping to make some $ from selling vanilla.

The garden also has a nice restaurant with reasonable prices. All together we had a great day and highly recommend to anyone who likes Botanical Gardens. For many more pics, see my Google Album: Here*
