Our adventure began when we left San Diego at 7am October 29, 2020. The ‘Nada HaHa’ was the Covid version of the Baja HaHa – the same trip but only 26 boats (usually well over 100) and no parties or classes. Bram and Jess came along as crew and became good friends.
The weather report promised very light wind in the morning, and reasonable (8 – 12 knots) from behind in the afternoon. We got very light wind all day, mostly from directly in front. So we motored all day. But the seas were very calm, weather was great and we had dolphin escorts several times and saw a humpback whale doing gymnastics, breaching nearly completely out of the water and flopping his tail around for at least 5 minutes.
We arrived in Ensenada and the Hotel Coral Marina before 5pm, docked in a nice wide slip and had a great reception by the marina staff (Peggy’s fluent Spanish helps). We will check-in to Mexico tomorrow and spend the weekend exploring Ensenada.
