Enjoying the El Cid Resort Marina in Mazatlan

A huge full moon for our last night in La Cruz

Getting out of La Cruz was a bit more difficult than we anticipated. When we pulled the anchor, we found that the chain and bridle were encrusted with barnacles and covered with a mossy sea weed. Luckily, about a month ago, we bought a power washer from Home Depot here in Mazatlan. That removed the mossy stuff and some of the barnacles but many had to be scraped off using a hammer and big screw driver. That was a messy 90 minutes with Peggy using the power washer and me wielding the hammer and screw driver. But we got it done and pulled out of La Cruz at about noon.

The wind was too light to sail so we motored for 29 hours to Mazatlan. The last 5 hours we also used our brand new jib sail to get a bit more speed. Peggy did a masterful job piloting into the marina channel with breaking waves at our stern trying to push us this way and that. She kept her cool, brought us in and I got a line on a cleat at the dock. All good.

El Cid is a high-end hotel / marina / resort with many swimming pools with slides, caves, pool volley ball, afternoon bingo and pool-side bar and cafe service and a couple nice resaurants. We will hang out here today (Friday) and tomorrow. Sunday we leave to cross to Baja.Edit
