We have decided it is just too hot here in the summer, so we are heading back to Puerto Escondido where we will put Calista in a slip and go back to San Diego for about a month.
We really enjoyed Santa Rosalia and had hoped to go further north to Bahia Los Angeles, maybe see whale sharks, and even pop across the Sea of Cortez to San Carlos. But with the temps hitting the mid-90s by 10am and staying there until 8pm and the low at night being 85, we’d be spending too much time inside the boat running the air conditioner. The point of being here is to be out hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and finding new friends. That’s really hard to do when it is so hot.
So today we started with the 38nm trip south to Santo Domingo. Took us all day, motoring with the wind in our face, slowing us down. But we dropped anchor at 7pm in a location we know well (was here twice in late July). Tomorrow we will head to San Juanico, 45nm.
