We left Los Friales a bit after sunrise January 10. We had an easy overnight sail and arrived in Mazatlan the next morning. By 9:30 am we were anchored safely near Club Nautico and by 11am I was asleep after a long but very nice night-watch. By the time I woke up in mid-afternoon, Peggy had already washed down the decks! 🙂
We had great wind (10 to 20 knots on the beam) for the entire passage and a beautiful moonless night full of stars including the Southern Cross low on the horizon. In the morning we saw several humpback whales with some spectacular breaching splashes, less than a mile off the port bow. Thats about as close as you want to get to something so big and powerful!
We are enjoying beautiful Mazatlan and I will post more soon.
