We left La Paz today to start the next phase of the trip. We had a great time in La Paz, enjoying the city, the marina and the people. Some of that was a bit constrained due to covid, but we still had fun and highly recommend La Paz. I did a photo album of the La Paz Malecon (Esplanade along the water) showing the great walkway with wonderful sculptures. Hope you like it! But now, on to new places!

First stop was at the fuel dock where we got 100 gallons of diesel. Then off to *Bahia San Gabriel on Isla Espiritu! Some very comfortable upwind sailing in 5 to 15 knots of wind and very smooth seas. We sailed most of the way and then had a bit of motoring into a nice, well protected bay with very clear water and a good sand bottom that is ideal for anchoring. Almost underneath us is a formation of coral heads that is alive with many colorful fish. I went for a swim in my new wetsuit and saw some *King Angelfish, Bumphead Parrotfish, Triggerfish, *Sergeant Majors, and several others. Very colorful, and just 10 ft from our stern at 10 to 15 ft depth in very clear water (more than 50ft visilbility – I could see our anchor at the end of 50ft of chain).
Tomorrow we will head south to *Muertes, and from there to *Friales. Friday morning we plan to head from Friales, across the Sea of Cortez to Mazatlan. I am not sure if we will have internet between here and *Mazatlan. I recently installed some high-powered antennas and a very good modem/router so if there is any signal we should be OK. In our current location, miles from any cell towers we are still getting 46 MBPS downstream and 6 MBPS up! 🙂 Maybe we will watch a Netflix movie tonight!
