NZ Mail Boxes

One of the fun things about NZ is the interesting mail boxes. We quickly noticed that they were more colorful than what we see in the US and we started collecting photos. While still fulfilling their utilitarian function, they are often humorous pieces of art.

This also serves as a baguette drop box.
Careful – or you could lose a finger!
Sam Gamgee’s box in Hobbiton.
Another box on Bagshot Row.
This one might double as a bird house.
Chevy V6 (or V8?) with an air scoop!
Love to see recycling in art!
This was not a mail box, but I just love it! Yes, the area is know for voracious mosquitos.
Cute as can bee!
Ribbit
We saw hundreds like this.
Another that, while not a mail box, I just had to include it here.
Hundreds like this as well.

NZ’ers do have a sense of humor and like to personalize their front yard. We had a lot of fun looking for cool boxes. 🙂
